Wildlife veterinary medicine is a growing field. There are a number
of good publications, diverse training opportunities and internships
available, as well as specialized listservs that facilitate networking
and the exchange of information.
Veterinarians
who specialize in or who are interested in helping wildlife make
an enormous contribution to the wildlife rehabilitation community
as well as to wildlife itself. Many veterinarians volunteer long
hours to the cause, treating wildlife, advising colleagues and setting
up training programs; their efforts have helped increase professionalism
in the discipline of rehabilitation.
